Overturned Kerosene Oil Tank

In December 2023, Seed Ireland's emergency response team swiftly deployed to address an overturned kerosene oil tank in Co. Leitrim, Ireland, following a rare weather event. Our dedicated operatives took decisive actions to mitigate the impact and ensure the safety and comfort of the affected homeowners.

🔧 Immediate Actions:
Decanted 300 litres of kerosene into a temporary oil tank.
Reconnected the heating system to provide a functional heat source for the homeowners.

🚨 Liquid Waste Disposal:
Sourced a specialist liquid waste disposal company.
8000 litres of oily water, with free-phase kerosene, were expertly removed from an underground water tank, mitigating further risks to the property and the environment.

🌬️ Oil Vapour Reduction:
Recorded significantly elevated oil vapours throughout the property.
Installed a vacuum extraction unit, reducing internal oil odours and allowing homeowners to stay in residence during the Christmas period.

🌱 Sustainable Remediation Approach:
Proposed a targeted, bespoke in-situ remedial treatment program.
Aiming to effectively address contamination while reducing the carbon footprint of remedial works and minimizing material sent to landfill.

At Seed Ireland, we are committed to not only responding promptly to environmental emergencies but also implementing sustainable solutions for a greener future. Our approach combines immediate relief with forward-thinking strategies to ensure the well-being of both our clients and the environment.
